Aaron Crutison Sr. for 36th General President

My vision for Alpha centers on fortification of our infrastructure and a refocusing of our external impact in three ways: 1) Elevate and empower our collegiate and alumni membership; 2) Strengthen our fraternal framework to save Black boys, and families of color through intentional investments; and 3) Advocate and achieve economic, political, and social policy change for the communities we serve. For Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. to remain a consciousness for change in our society, we require nothing less than transformational leadership with vision for internal growth and an undeniable presence in external impact.

About Aaron Crutison Sr.

Aaron Crutison Sr., is a native son of the south raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He was an early trailblazer who matriculated to UC Berkeley where he was initiated at Alpha Epsilon Chapter in 1983. Since then, Brother Crutison has remained engaged with Alpha for 35 years serving his community through a variety of leadership roles at the chapter, district, regional and national levels including Acting General President, Western Region Vice President, College and Alumni Chapter President, College Chapter Advisor, Director of Conventions and Vice President of the National Alpha Education Foundation.

Aaron Crutison Sr. is the well accomplished immediate past Western Region Vice President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His successful term included leading a fiscal recovery that retired outstanding regional debt of $45,000 that was inherited, but also includes leaving his successor with a $100,000 financial surplus. Moreover, his leadership led to the creation of signature programs, membership growth, a Leadership Development Conference and developing a nonprofit organization focused on supporting young African American males.

Having recognized his experience, leadership, and dedication, the council of past General Presidents requested the assistance of Brother Crutison and subsequently swore him into office as “Acting General President” during turbulent circumstances that called for stabilizing leadership. Brother Crutison humbly accepted the responsibility and is credited for his leadership, calm demeanor in crisis management and ensuring a smooth transition to the 34th General Presidency.

To those who know him well, accepting this challenge did not come as a surprise. Brother Crutison has consistently answered the call and accepted large scale challenges throughout life. Not only for himself but also for the thousands of children for whom he advocates on a daily basis through his role as Deputy Director of Child Welfare Services. Having accepted the challenge as the first African American male in this role, he is responsible for providing leadership, vision and direction towards strengthening families while ensuring children are protected from abuse and neglect.

His leadership and vision have led to decreases in the number of children entering foster care through a philosophy of early family engagement, building safety plans around children and strengthening the family structure. Brother Crutison believes every child deserves a permanent home and caring adult in their life.

Moreover, Brother Crutison is an ordained minister at Kyles Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Vallejo, California. All of this would not be possible without the loving support of the lovely Suzanne Crutison, his wife for 30 years. Mrs. Crutison is a 35-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and an active member Jack and Jill near their home in Fairfield, CA.

Brother Crutison received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Social Science with emphasis in Health Administration from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of San Francisco.

Together, they are the proud parents of four adult children; Aaron II, Cameron, Ashley, and Taylor. All are college educated with three college graduates and the youngest a junior at Stanford University. Aaron Crutison Sr. is most proud of his two sons becoming members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Aaron Crutison II, is a Spring 2008 initiate of Pi Epsilon chapter at University of California, Riverside, and Cameron Crutison, a Fall 2016 initiate of Gamma Xi chapter at the University of California, Los Angeles. His daughter, Ashley Crutison, is a Spring 2018 initiate of Eta Lambda chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Sacramento State University.

Throughout his career, Brother Crutison has received numerous awards and has been recognized by his employer as a leader in Solano County government. Brother Crutison loves God, Family and Alpha. He knows God orders his steps in all his endeavors.
